Julie Olivia is teaching since sept 2006 in The French School of Singapore, "Lycée Francais de Singapour" (www.lfs.edu.sg). She conducts choirs and performs as a choir singer, but also solo both singing and piano. She runs also her own little guesthouse in Northern Thailand: Akhajulyah Guesthouse. Julie Olivia From has been studying music in France and in Canada. She started her studies at "University of Music Lumiere Lyon II" and at the Academy of music (Conservatoire National de Region) in Lyon. She completed her Masters in musicology at the University of Music in Montréal (Québec), (1996-1997) and has been certified for teaching music and directing choir (CAPES) in France (1998). Her principal instruments are piano and singing.
She has constantly supplemented her studies by participating in various workshops and courses on choir directing and singing: Choir directing with Laurent Grégoire and Jean Sourisse, Vocal Jazz Masterclass with Laurence Saltiel in «Crest Jazz Vocal», Workshop of South American music with Nestor Zadoff, Workshop of Vocal Jazz (world music, gospel, and jazz), master class in Oslo (www.completevocalinstitute.com).
She has been singing in different vocal ensembles and choirs: In Singapore: The Singapore Symphony Chorus (2008-2009)(www.symphonychorus.sg). Dir. Julie Olivia has recorded a few CDs with different groups including some solo songs.
She has been learning to play different instruments since childhood. She is accomplished in playing piano (which is the main instrument), flute and diatonic accordion. She learned also the bases of cello, violin and viole de gamba and guitare.
Julie Olivia has been teaching music at the French School of Copenhagen from 1999 to 2006, from primary school to high School. Apart from teaching music, she conducted different choirs (children and teenager choirs), was teaching piano and was leading many artistic projects such as musicals every year.

From June 2005 to December 2005, she spend 6 month in Hilltribe, the Akha, in North Thailand, teaching, recording and studying their music and created Akhajulyah Guesthouse.
